- $200 million in capital funding

- new builds
- expansion or conversion of existing non-residential buildings
It has also been used to repair existing shelters and transitional housing.
Operational funding was available for new construction projects. It was a top-up and not meant to cover all operating expenses. Your projects had to be operationally viable.
Applicants could qualify for:
- up to $30,000 in operating costs annually for each shelter bed
- up to $15,000 in operating costs annually for each transitional housing unit
Applications were accepted through 2 intake windows:
- The first window was open from November 30, 2021 to January 30, 2022.
- A second application window was open from April 1, 2022 to May 31, 2022.
- If necessary, a third window may be opened at a later date.
CMHC has reviewed and prioritized applications at the end of each window. If your application was not selected, it was automatically considered in the next window.
