Location

We're excited to welcome you as you join us in Ottawa for the 2024 National Housing Conference. The Westin Ottawa, located right in the heart of downtown, will serve as our conference venue. We’ve compiled some useful information to help you plan your hotel and travel arrangements.

Conveniently located in downtown Ottawa, the Westin Ottawa provides direct access to many of the city's national attractions.

Navigating Ottawa: local transporation

While there isn't any specific transportation arranged for the conference, there are numerous convenient options to navigate the city. Participants can explore on foot, use public transit or opt for taxis or rideshare services like Uber at their personal expense. This allows for flexibility and convenience in planning your travel itinerary around the conference.

Parking options

There are 2 main parking options. Participants will need to cover the costs of both options.

On-site parking: Conveniently located within the conference venue.

Off-site Parking: The CF Rideau Parking Garage is 0.4 kilometres away from the venue, offering an alternative option.

Valet service is available daily at a rate of $55.

Additionally, there is a dedicated on-site electric vehicle charging station.

We have negotiated a group rate for conference participants at the Westin Ottawa. Please follow the instructions provided in your registration confirmation email to book your room.

Room rates

Take advantage of the special rate before Monday, February 19, 2024, 11:30 p.m. EST, or until all rooms within the block have been reserved (whichever comes first).

Traditional guestroom (single/double): $259 CAD

The room rate includes:

  • complimentary Wi-Fi for up to 6 devices
  • complimentary airline boarding pass printing in Tangent Business Centre 

13% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) and 4% Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) will be added to the $259 CAD base rate.

If you would like to book a room outside of our official room block dates (March 17-19), please begin by securing your accommodation within the standard room block dates (March 17-19).

Following your booking, you'll receive a confirmation email – please reach out to the hotel directly with your confirmation number to inquire about additional nights' availability.

Booking policy

Please note that you’ll need a credit card to make your hotel room reservation, unless you have a prior arrangement with CMHC.

To secure your reservation, the hotel reserves the right to charge the cost of one night's stay, along with any applicable taxes and fees, to your credit card. We appreciate your understanding.

Limitations: The hotel is unable to guarantee bed types, but you can add a bed type request to additional requests under "Room Requests and Accessibility" when you make your reservation.

Onsite facilities

The Westin Ottawa has a wellness lounge with a dedicated prayer section.

The conference venue also prioritizes inclusivity with several gender-neutral washrooms available throughout the building, as will as gender-specific washrooms.

Hotel room cancellation policy

Individual reservations can be cancelled up to 72 hours prior to the arrival date. Cancellations received after 72 hours prior to the arrival date will result in a charge equivalent to a one-night stay.

Check-in time: 3:00 p.m.
Check-out time: 11:00 a.m.

Be aware of fraudulent hotel reservations

CMHC and Intertask Conferences are the only authorized organizations to handle guest room reservations at the Westin Ottawa. Please disregard any emails or phone calls from suppliers asking you to book your accommodation for the National Housing Conference. Please do not interact with them.

Getting here

Whether you’re travelling by air or rail, we've secured discounts to make your trip to the 2024 National Housing Conference more affordable. Please refer to the unique codes below when booking your travel arrangements.

By air

The Ottawa International Airport is a 30-minute drive from downtown Ottawa.

Taxis, car services and car rentals are located right outside the airport. Full accessible public transit to downtown Ottawa is also available with OC Transpo bus route 97.

Booking your flight

Air Canada and WestJet offer discounts for conference participants. When booking your flight, use the respective discount codes mentioned below:

Air Canada Discount Code: NXNFETU1

  • Valid for travel from Monday, March 11, 2024, 12:01 a.m. (EST), to Tuesday, March 26, 2024, 11:30 p.m. (EST).
  • Get a 5% discount on standard fares for North America and a 10% discount on flex fares and higher. For international travel, receive a 10% discount on standard fares and higher.

WestJet Discount Code: 3J7B8RJ

  • Valid for travel from Monday, March 11, 2024, 12:01 a.m. (EST) to Tuesday, March 26, 2024, 11:30 p.m. (EST).
  • Get a 5% discount on Econo* fares and a 10% discount on EconoFlex and Premium fares for travel within Canada. For international travel, receive a 2% discount on Econo*, 5% off EconoFlex, and 10% off Premium base fares.

Note: Basic or Business class bookings do not qualify for a discount.

By train

Canada’s passenger train service, VIA Rail, offers numerous daily departures to Ottawa from all major cities in southern Ontario and southern Québec.

Travel time by taxi from the Via Station to downtown Ottawa is approximately 15 to 30 minutes.

Conference participants qualify for a discount on their train tickets. When booking your train ticket, use the Conference’s VIA convention discount code: 14496.

  • Valid for travel from Saturday, March 16, 2024, 12:01 a.m. (EST) to Thursday, March 21, 2024 11:30 p.m. (EST).
  • Valid from all stations to Ottawa, Ontario and return.
  • Get a 10% discount on the best available fare in Economy, Economy Plus, Business, Business Plus and Sleeper class. *
  • The discount applies to a maximum of 2 passengers per booking.
  • One complimentary stopover is allowed at no additional charge.
  • For travel on all fare plans in business class, the first stopover is allowed at no additional charge, provided that this stopover takes place in Toronto, Montréal or Ottawa only.
  • Please note that the discount does not apply to Escape fares and Prestige class.

Toronto: 4.5 hours
Montréal: 2 hours
Kingston: 2 hours

*Subject to the conditions and restrictions of the fare plan to which the additional discount is being applied.
