The Honourable Sean Fraser has been the Member of Parliament for Central Nova since 2015. He has held numerous roles including Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and Minister of Middle Class Prosperity.
Minister Fraser is known for his innovative and hands-on approach to tackling Canada's housing crisis. One of his recent initiatives introduced incentives to accelerate the building approvals process. He has also proposed a "wartime" response using pre-approved designs to quickly address housing needs and other policy measures to build more homes faster and improve affordability.
Before entering politics, Minister Fraser was a successful commercial litigation and international dispute resolution lawyer.
He is a dedicated volunteer, having served as the Vice-President of a local United Nations Association branch in Canada. Additionally, he was a Research Fellow with the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law and provided pro bono legal aid to a local BGC Club and vulnerable community members.
Minister Fraser holds a law degree from Dalhousie University, a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Leiden University, and a Bachelor of Science from St. Francis Xavier University.
