Find documented examples of innovative approaches to energy reduction in Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBs) across northern countries. These examples of housing projects will:
- illustrate various strategies that can be employed to achieve a low-energy multi-unit residential building in harsh northern climates
- share common elements such as passive solar design, a highly insulated, air-tight envelope, heat recovery ventilation, low-energy lighting and solar thermal collectors to meet space heating and domestic hot water loads
- incorporation of the identified energy efficiency features and attaining the thermal performance levels for the building envelope assemblies can yield significant energy cost savings
All of this and more results in more affordable housing in the north, while providing a more comfortable and healthier living environment.
