Defining the Affordability of Housing in Canada

This analysis provides insight on national and international indicators of shelter affordability in Canada’s 10 largest Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs).  It paints an illustrative picture of housing affordability across these CMAs using 2 different methods:

• minimum income threshold (conventional)
• basic needs threshold (residual income)
