This Solutions Lab is led by Inclusion Canada (formerly the Canadian Association for Community Living). It will explore how to use Registered Disability Savings Plans (RDSPs) to address housing challenges for people with disabilities. Funds from RDSP long-term savings plans could help people access better housing and lead to financial security and housing stability. The Lab brings together policymakers and people with different physical and developmental disabilities. Together, they will try to understand:
- how policies related to the RDSP would need to be changed, and
- how these funds would be used for stable housing.
Key Findings / Key Goals
-
✔
Review existing rules governing RDSPs and barriers that prevent practical use.
-
✔
Develop ways to use RDSP assets to create better housing access.
-
✔
Improve supports and housing affordability for those with disabilities who are homeless or in low-income households.
