CMHC’s commitment to ethical supply chains
Forced labour is a pervasive issue affecting industries worldwide. Businesses' supply chains present risks of forced labour and child labour. Canada is actively addressing and eliminating these practices through the Act to enact the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act and to amend the Customs Tariff (formerly Bill S-211). This Act aims to enhance awareness, transparency and prompt businesses to improve their supply chain practices.
Legislation overview
The Act to enact the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act and to amend the Customs Tariff aims to uphold Canada's commitment to combating forced and child labour. It requires mandatory reporting for government institutions and businesses. A detailed compliance report is due by May 31 each year to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.
