The Standard on Accessible Dwellings
CMHC provided in-part funding to Canadian Standards Association Group to support research in the development of a new national accessible housing standard. The focus of this standard is on the design, construction and modification of affordable, adaptable and accessible homes.
CSA/ASC B652:23, National Standard of Canada, includes requirements and recommendations for designing and building accessible dwellings for people with a range of diverse abilities, including physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities, or a combination. The technical requirements and recommendations in this Standard cover design elements of the physical spaces in housing to help ensure they are accessible to people with a wide range of abilities and disabilities.
